A figment of your imagination...
A figment of your imagination...
Born out of an infatuation with rum, our little piece of paradise started as a small apartment bar in 2019. Channelling our love of rum into an obsession with a mid-century decor, exotic cocktails and Polynesian Pop culture, we have finally realized our dream of a full-fledged home Tiki bar. The Hali Tiki Room provides an escape from reality where friends, cocktail aficionados and Tiki addicts can enjoy lazy island time and exotic drinks.
BULA!
Like the unscrupulous missionaries that invaded the islands of the South Pacific during the 17th century, we are obsessed with spreading the gospel of Tiki. Our mission is to teach non-believers about the rum, Tiki culture and exotic cocktails.
Unlike the Christian colonizers, we're going to let you make up your own mind and go on your own journey. Tiki is a fantasy, not a set of rules that must be followed. We'll tell you about our fantasy, but your fantasy is completely up to you. You're welcome at the Hali Tiki Room no matter what.
We'll make the introductions and you can take it from there.
Our love of rum also manifests itself as a passion for cocktails - especially the libations of the mid-century, prohibition and pre-prohibition era. As much as we love drinks filled with fruit juice and garnished with paper umbrellas, we also worship at the altar of classics like the Mary Pickford, Old Cuban or Coquito. Who knows, maybe we'll mix in some whiskey, gin, or other spirits from time to time.
The Hali Tiki Room features a respectable collection of period cook and cocktail books. This collection serves as an inspiration for re-living and re-creating the heyday of cocktail culture.
Won't you join us?
A few weeks ago I attended the Hali Tiki Room with four friends for an evening of relaxation, rum education and great company...and let's not forget about the absolutely delicious cocktails. And the aesthetics are second to none. Before our visit, there was lots of communication. Devin and Sandi's desire to cater to our specific wants was very nice. However, we were ope and let them do their thing. We were very impressed and would highly recommend it to others. In fact, we are considering going back again for another visit.

The Hali Tiki Room was an excellent experience filled with great cocktails and an incredible attention to detail. I would highly recommend!

My husband and I are Tiki enthusiasts and always look for a place when we are in a new town. Hali Tiki did not disappoint! From the moment you go through the porthole door you are immersed into a 5-star experience. The attention to detail in everything from the decor to drinks is unmatched. Devin and Sandi are amazing hosts! It’s a must if you’re visiting the area and we can’t wait to go back!
ASHLEY & JUSTIN BRADSHAW
Rum is the foundational cornerstone of the Hali Tiki Room. It was our inspiration and is the centrepiece of our our home bar and Tiki experience.
Currently the Hali Tiki Room's collection contains more than 125 bottles of rum, ron, rhum, cahaça, clairin, arrack and charanda. We have sugar cane spirits in virtually every category and from more than 25 countries from every corner of the world.
Other than requiring a base ingredient of sugar cane, there are few rules when it comes to making rum. Sure, some countries have regulations when it comes to fermentation, distillation and ageing, but there is no single way to manufacture rum. Molasses and cane juice. Pot still and column still. Aged and unaged. They all start out the same but end up very different.
At the Hali Tiki Room, the only thing we love more than drinking rum is talking about rum while we drink rum. If you love rum as much as we do, or if you want to learn more about it, this is the place for you. Stop by for a taste and a good chinwag.
“One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple.”
Hali Tiki favourites
The granddaddy of them all. In 1944, Trader Vic Bergeron combined a special blend of rum with lime juice and an obscure French almond syrup called Orgeat. Nearly a century later its still "out of this world...the best!"
This world renowned cocktail was created at the Soggy Dollar Bar in the British Virgin Islands. How can you go wrong with pineapple, orange and coconut?
Popo Galsini won the 1967 International Bartenders' Association World Championship by mixing gin with fresh lemon, passionfruit, Orgeat and Falernum. It's not rum, but it's still delicious.
Another Donn the Beachcomber classic from the 1940s, this Tiki milkshake blends rum, honey syrup, peach liqueur with fresh pineapple and mint leaves goes down too easy. Try it inside a pineapple!
Another Tiki icon from the 1960s, this is a tropical fantasy combining four different rums with fresh pineapple, lime and honey syrup. We use African honey and serve it with two straws in a pineapple shell.
This golden-era Tiki concoction is named for the famous Bali Hai in San Diego. Fine Jamaican rums, pineapple, lemon and coffee liqueur will surely start your night off right.
One of sour, two of sweet, three of strong and four of weak. This prototypical Tiki punch will take you directly to the beach. Just sit back and relax.
A Hali Tiki interpretation of the classics
A tribute to Trader Vic's original recipe - clarified with dairy.
Based on Don the Beachcomber's original 1934 version, we use freshly squeezed lime juice, and in-house Hali Tiki falernum and Don's mix.
A boozy WWII era cocktail featuring rum, gin, brandy and sherry. But you'll remember the fresh fruit juice and house made Hali Tiki orgeat.
Howdy cowboy! You won't be asking what Li Hing Mui is after tasting this Martin Cate version of the King of all Cocktails.
Everyone loves a Daiquiri and there are dozens to choose from. Add house made Hali Tiki Pimento Dram and you have our favourite.
This 1962 Kahiki classic will surprise you with its unusual but delicious Tiki ingredients. Grape juice and peach liqueur - but there's no rum!
From the menu of the famous Aku Aku Tiki Bar in Orlando, this riff on a classic features Hamilton rum and house made Pimento Dram.
Hali Tiki originals
If Don the Beachcomber had his own daiquiri in the 1970s, why can’t the Hali Tiki Room? Ours features Caribbean rum and house-made lime and berry oleo-syrup.
A Christmas Tiki treat featuring Hali Tiki house made Trinidadian Ponche de Crème blended with fresh white grapefruit, lime, orange and orgeat.
Created by the Hali Tiki Room as a special birthday drink, this combination of lightly aged rum with grapefruit juice, house made Fassionola and Ting soda from Jamaica is still a favourite.
In honour of the Halifax Tars Rugby Club, we have upgraded the Blue Hawaii with house made blackberry lime syrup.
Can you handle tequila, corn and chilies in your glass? If so, cross the Caribbean to Mexico for this ridiculously named Hali Tiki potion featuring Ancho Reyes and Nixta liqueurs.
